Keeping with the theme of providing local produce, products and resources for the community, Roslindale Farmers Market will sponsor Ride Your Bike Day in conjunction with RozzieBikes, a neighborhood organization devoted to making Roslindale a better place to ride your bike by advocating for street improvements, bike parking, bike routes, bike lanes, and mixed-use paths. The special theme day promoting the use, care and maintenance of bicycles will be on Saturday, July 10 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm in Adams Park at the intersection of Washington Street and Cummins Highway, Roslindale.

Farmers market shoppers, families and bike enthusiasts are encouraged to ride their bike to the farmers market and have their bike parked at the bike valet stop, compliments of RozzieBikes. There will be a variety of bike-related activities including free bike repair and tune ups provided by the Boston Cyclists Union. RozzieBikes will also provide an assortment of information and guides on bike riding in Boston and provide Bike Charlie Cards which provide access to safe, secure bicycle parking at Forest Hills and Alewife MBTA stations. Bring your kids for a short ride on fairly flat streets from Adams Park across Roslindale to the Dale Street Playground and back. A family oriented bike ride will leave Adams Park at the conclusion of the farmers market at 1:30 pm and proceed down Poplar St. to the Dale Street playground and back. The ride will be for adults and children. It will be less than two miles each way, and the route is about as flat as you can get in hilly Roslindale. Bring food for lunch or pick it up at the Farmers Market. Minors must be supervised by a parent or guardian and everyone must wear a helmet.

Additionally, a group bike table will provide information on several bike-oriented organizations including RozzieBikes, Boston Cyclists Union, JP Bikes and others. The owners of the first 40 bikes parked at the bike valet will receive a $1 coupon, courtesy of Roslindale Village Main Street which will be good for purchases at various Roslindale Village businesses. The bike valet station will be a secure, supervised space at the corner of the park closest to Corinth St. Boston Cyclist Union will be collecting information from bike enthusiasts regarding their interests about new routes and paths through an interactive activity, called Pin the Bike Lane on Boston. Free childrens activities and live entertainment is scheduled every Saturday through October 30. At Ride Your Bike Day on July 10, the Roslindale Farmers Market will feature Margot Fox with folk-rock singing and dancing fun for the whole family at 10:00 am and The Beachcombovers will entertain the crowds at 11:00 am with their surf rock genre of music for all ages.
